Sound Restoration
This video demonstrates our success in restoring sound recordings from antiquated sources. The recording showcased in the video on the left was recorded in 33.3 rpm on a small vinyl disc. First, you'll hear a clip of the recording played back at the slowest speed possible. It was digitized into the computer at this speed to ensure the highest fidelity.
Once the digital audio file was created, we adjusted the speed of the recording and calculated what the correct pitch of the voice would be. Then every effort was made to delicately remove as much scratching and ambient noise as possible while rebuilding the original singer's vocal quality. Suddenly, the muddy, static-laden sound transformed into a beautiful voice not heard by his family in over 80 years.
Photo Restoration
Use the slider in the middle to view the original photograph featured here and the restored version I created. Move the slider to the right to see the original image. Then slide it to the left to reveal the improvements I've made.
This is an example of a photo restoration. This photograph of my great-grandparents was printed on tin, not paper. The tin was tarnished, corroded, and holey.
I took a digital photograph of the tin photograph. Then using Photoshop, I restored the image digitally, improving the contrast, evening out the tone, and removing blemishes.
In the video, you'll see a clip I remastered from a live concert. At first, you'll see the raw material as I received it, with heavy ambient noise from the building's heating system and the camera canted at an angle. In my adjustments here, I corrected the camera angle, some lighting adjustments, removed the ambient noise entirely, then boosted the audio to a much more manageable level. This was one of nearly 20 videos I corrected for a single project.
